Popup Shop at Heathrow T5 Terminal

A steel structure that needed to be free standing so as not to fix into floor. The framework was designed to be self supporting once bolted together onsite. The structure was wrapped in mirror Skybond with integral flush fit opal acrylic logos. The logos were back-lit with LED lighting. Flush fit tension fabric light boxes were used in the main pillars.

Design & Planning

Working with the shopfitter, structural engineer and Heathrow Airport we needed to design the structure for this popup shop to be installed in one night.

Spans between pillars to be self supporting once bolted together.

Construction

Everything was built in house including cutting and welding of the sub-frame, cutting and folding of the mirror Skybond. Routing in the flush fit logos and incorporating the light boxes.

Integral illuminated logos & fabric light boxes

With the tension fabric light boxes it is very easy for staff to replace the images. All that is required is for staff to pull on a small tab sticking out from the bottom left side to remove the fabric. Then simply insert the new image.

Floor

The fasse floor installed by the shop fitter conceals the spreader plates that the structure is bolted to.

Large light box

Fabric light boxes can span huge areas without joins.
